This post is follow up to my post on Knowing Who You Are. This is what I wrote about who I am the day I figured it out. You may notice that this prose has nothing to do with my job or season of life. This is my authentic self.
When you see me you may think there is nothing special about
this person and you would be right. Every single one of us who was created has
been created equal. It is not a measure of proficiency or aptitude that
separates us from each other; it is simply who we are and what we do.
I am Jacob Fields
I am a human being who is full of flaws. My life has plenty
of scar tissue from deep blows this life has dealt me. The wounds of my past
will not determine the fate of my future, my choices do.
I am Jacob Fields
I am annoyingly optimistic even in the face of defeat. I
believe that I can always do better. I believe that I can do more. I set
expectations of myself that are impossible to live up to and will use my
optimism to perpetually drive my life in a positive direction, even when
sometimes it is hard for me to see. Even when I want to give up, I keep going.
I am Jacob Fields
I expect more of others than I ever let them know, which
often leaves me disappointed yet the expectation for greatness for progress for
growth even in those who disappoint me never relents. I want everyone to reach
their potential and beyond.
I am Jacob Fields
I hate small talk. I want to have a significant conversation
that has substance that can be gleaned. I am a student of life and I think
everyone no matter how young or old rich or poor educated or un-educated has
something to offer the world and when I talk to you my hope is to find that one
thing and bring it out of you. Once I have learned from you, I will try and
apply it to my life as quickly as possible while looking for another thing.
I am Jacob Fields
I reject what is, and will always look to what could be.
I am Jacob Fields
If you ask what makes me unique, it is this: My hope is
Unrelenting, My Goals are High, My expectations are for something more than
what is. I pray fervently for the desires of my heart and then work with all I
have to make those prayers reality. I trust that God is more than enough to
make something beautiful out of the places in life where I fall short.
