Church or Self Help Organization?

For years now I have been struggling with understanding the balance between spirituality and practical value of ministry.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find much to sort out the matter so I am bring my thoughts to you asking for what you think.

I am an audiophile. I really prefer listening to reading. I get so much more out of hearing something than seeing it and maybe you are like me. Maybe you are one of my seminary friends and are simply reading so much that your eyes are getting glazed over.
